Thought for the Day

Alan Smith serves as the minister for the White House Church of Christ in White House, Tennesse, located 27 miles north of Nashville.

Alan has been preaching for 29 years and has been with the White House Church of Christ since August 2002. He received a bachelor's degree in Bible from Freed-Hardeman College in 1977, and has previously preached for congregations in Milan, TN, Bassett, VA, Roanoke Rapids, NC, Gloucester, VA, and Boone, NC.

Alan has been married for 28 years to the former Sueanne Sword, and they have three children -- Charity (living in San Anontio, TX), Amber (attending Oklahoma Christian University) and Joshua (attending Western Kentucky University).

Alan started the daily e-mail devotional, "Thought For the Day" in September 1997. He enjoyed sharing humorous stories received by e-mail with his friends and members of the congregation and felt that people might enjoy reading those bits of humor with a spiritual application and challenge to Christian living, so TFTD was born. Initially sent to 25 friends, it was passed on and passed on until eventually it reached over 11,000 subscribers in all fifty states and over 90 different countries.
